Machines playing their part for independent betting shops

Independent bookmakers are seeing above average growth in machine performance, according to figures released by leading gaming machine supplier The Global Draw.

The company, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Scientific Games Corporation [Nasdaq: SGMS], is reporting a near 21% year on year increase in gross win per terminal per week for its independent bookmaker customers, thanks largely to the popularity of its B3 reel based games.

Paul Jenkins, The Global Draw’s newly appointed Account Manager specifically for the independent sector, said the figures were excellent news which show independents can compete with large multiple operators.

He said: “We have tracked trading figures among our 500 independent betting shop customers in recent months and compared them with the same period last year.  The results prove the added value that the right machines with the right content and support can provide to betting shop businesses.

“We estimate nearly all our machine growth is from the new B3 reel based games we have been developing, while use of traditional FOBT content such as roulette is remaining pretty static.  B3 games really show off the graphics capabilities and dual screen design of our terminals and feature heavily on our latest menus.

“Their growing popularity makes them integral to our plans to further develop the machine offer for our independents.”
